Panda Cares Contributes Food, PPE for Covid19 Relief at UNM Hospitals

Panda Cares, the philanthropic arm of Panda Restaurant Group, has once again gone the extra mile for UNM Children’s Hospital in its time of need.

On Friday, May 1st, 2020, Panda Express area coaches of operations Anthony Jara, Marcos Garza and restaurant staff delivered 150 Panda Bowls with fortune cookies to UNM Hospitals’ COVID19 center healthcare workers. They even included a UNMH doctor’s favorite, Teriyaki Chicken!

Anthony and Marcos have lead Panda Express’ fundraising efforts in New Mexico, raising over $908,000 for UNM Children’s Hospital since they partnered with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in 2007.  “We are excited to be able to give back to those that serve our community especially during this time. Send a big thank you from us to all who keep our community healthy!”

Barbara Temer, Manager of UNMH Volunteer Services, said UNMH staff was thrilled for the donations: The”delivery of the meals made the day of our hardworking staff.  The doctors and nurses were overjoyed with happiness to get their meals.  Panda Express is a forever friend of the staff at UNMH!”

Panda Cares has also been working through their Covid19 Community Care Fund to provide PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) to UNM Hospitals, ensuring they have the resources they need to provide the best care to New Mexico’s most-vulnerable patients.

Donations towards PPE for UNM Hospitals can be accepted at any Panda Express restaurant, who have kept drive-thru services open.
